Indie puzzle game studio

Riddlewerk

Small, calm puzzle games where the order of your moves is the puzzle.

We are a small indie studio. Our first two games: DREH, a word puzzle, and ZEHN, a number puzzle – coming soon to Android and iPhone.

Our games

One start. One target. A handful of cards.

Every level gives you a starting point, a target and a few cards. Each card changes what is in front of you, and you can only play it as often as it allows. Which one you play when is the whole puzzle.

Word puzzle

DREH

“One word. One target. Order decides.”

Turn a starting word into the target word, one move at a time – with cards like “reverse”, “drop last” or “W first”. That is how a WORM becomes a COW and SANE becomes a SWAN.

  • 16Worlds
  • 640Levels per language
  • 11Card types
  • 2Play modes
  • Sixteen themed worlds of 40 levels each – from Animals, Nature and Kitchen to Fantasy and Space.
  • Separate level catalogues in English and in German.
  • Easy: every move happens at once. Hard: you plan all your moves first, then run the plan.
  • Every level is proven solvable by the solver, and the shortest solution is known – can you match it?
  • Twelve designs and six music tracks, unlocked with coins you earn by solving levels.
  • Coming soon to Google Play
  • Coming soon to the App Store
DREH home screen: the D R E H wordmark, the Animals world with 39 of 40 levels solved and the Continue button.

Number puzzle

ZEHN

“One number. One target. Order decides.”

DREH’s twin, with numbers instead of words: a starting number, a target number, a handful of maths cards – and real maths along the way.

  • 24Worlds
  • 1,200Levels
  • 40Cards
  • 2Play modes
  • A course through maths: plus and minus, times and divide, squares and roots, powers, fractions, percentages, logarithms and trigonometry. The last five worlds mix it all.
  • 29 maths cards plus 11 cards from DREH that work on digits: 120 reversed is 21.
  • Exact maths: every number is a reduced fraction, never a rounded decimal. If a result does not work out, the card tells you why.
  • The same 1,200 levels in English and in German, with measured, steadily rising difficulty.
  • Easy or Hard, twelve designs and six music tracks – just like DREH.
  • Coming soon to Google Play
  • Coming soon to the App Store

The studio

The order is the puzzle.

Riddlewerk is a small indie studio making puzzle games for phones. We build small, calm games that fit into a break and still give you a real aha moment.

They all share one idea: you see the start and the target, and you hold every card in your hand. Nothing is hidden, nothing comes down to luck. Whether you get there depends only on the order you play in.

DREH does it with words, ZEHN with numbers.

Try it: turn a WORM into a COW.

Level 13 of the Animals world in DREH

Target

Target: COW. Starting word: WORM.

Three cards, each exactly once. Which one first?

  • Every level solvable

Every level is checked by a solver before it ships. The shortest solution is known, and the game gives you its number of moves as the target.

  • No account, no analytics

You do not need an account. Your progress and settings stay on your device, and our games contain no analytics services.

  • Ads in moderation

Full-screen ads only appear after a solved level, never in your first session and at most every three levels. “Ad-free” removes them completely.

  • At your own pace

With “Reduce motion”, everything happens at once instead of animating. Music, effects and vibration can each be switched off.
